X BAT IN THE ARMED FORCES

X Bat is a huge supporter of our armed forces.  Please take a moment to view the following pages:

Mission: "To Promote the Awareness of All Americans in Support of the Honorable Sacrifices by our Armed Forces at the Tip of the Spear".

The goal of the U.S. Military All-Stars is to promote the awareness and patriotic spirit across the United States while returning a more complete and capable Warfighter using enhanced persistent leadership through competitive pressure situations, improved work habits and the desire to succeed and lead our armed forces.

To support the efforts of our armed forces here in the U.S. they have an extensive travel schedule making over 150 appearances annually in support of our active duty, reserve and veterans. They also serve as the model for over 30 organized military teams in all branches worldwide. The program has been featured in the February 2005 issue of All Hands magazine and an episode of the CBS television show "JAG" with Cy Young Award winner Barry Zito as a Navy pitcher in 2003. In addition, they have been the focus of a “Stay Navy” national recruiting campaign created by Spike Lee and played an annual Navy-Marine Game in San Diego immediately following a San Diego Padres game since 1995 and in 2005 they also played the Navy-Air Force Game at Camden Yards.

The intense training requirements, schedule and demanding collateral duties require players to participate in events promoting a positive image through various community outreach programs including: Navy Partnership in Education, Habitat for Humanity, and Navy Recruiting. The team competes in over 50 games including the Cape Cod and New England Collegiate Baseball Leagues in preparation for the 72nd Annual National Baseball Congress World Series and the17th Annual Navy-Marine All-Star Game on July 2, 2006 as the first event of a doubleheader on “Salute to the Military Day” before the San Diego Padres Class “A” minor league affiliate Lake Elsinore STORM game. The series is tied at 8-8 in this highly visible event that has attracted worldwide attention and solidified an extremely positive influence through its linkage to the entire military community.

Our joint dedication to the success of military baseball will continue to promote a positive image in support of our armed forces while attracting future generations to serve our military and our nation. On behalf of our armed forces we would like to invite you to support the annual “Red, White and Blue Tour of America” and They’ll see you at the Ball Park!

Thanks X Bat! (Letter from LCDR Terrence Allvord, USN)

Dear XBATS,

Nearly a year ago we asked if you would like to be part of military baseball history.  Thankfully you responded with great enthusiasm. We are proud to report that with your help, we did just that!     We also learned that the homeruns we hit were not as important as the bonds we created with the patriotic American people all over this great country.

As a testament to your direct contributions to our phenomenal success both on and off the field you provided us with the unique and cherished opportunity...

Dear XBATS,

Again, have been remiss at doing a better job of keeping in contact. Appreciate your keeping me on the distro and have been following the successes of the 'All Stars. Reviewing the sked...and expected return date will just miss you by a week along the Cape Cod and Coastal Plain league games. Definitely a busy sked and again, don't know how you do it!

Doing well here and forever vigilant as we head down the stretch. Roughly 3 weeks to go before we start our demob process...that alone almost takes a month. Not sure if we will fly out of these damn mtns or pack a donkey! Really can't complain too much as the camp has ac/showers..it's when we go beyond the wire that 'burning our drops is not something this Sailor thought he'd be doing for his Navy and our country.

As the weather warms, (120 yesterday...100's predicted for next 5 days) so does the optempo and ready to report to COMNAVHOMEFRONT. Training with the Afghan Army has improved and tribute it too time and building trust. Will admit, have grown to respect their challenges although still sleep with one eye open.

Am also keeping in touch with Smitty and Blanton and our East Coast squad...have not dived into the details....letting them run with the program, not sure how and where I'll fit into the process this season. Upon return, will be taking some time off to spend with family and also a trip back to the midwest (MO & IA).

See some familiar names in the press releases....JT Ortiz; Chris Morgan of course Ray "Baseball". Give them all my best!

Gotta ask, what's up with the USA Jersey and the yellow "S". Must be designed for a reason....

For those who do not know... our yellow "S" signifies a yellow ribbon in support of the troops!

Take care Terry and thanks for all that you are doing for our Sailors and the image of our Service. It does not go unnoticed. Best wishes to Janine and the family.

Keep leading from the front.

D-man

NOTE: To all our supporters out there...If you have not submitted an AD for our 2006 Tour Program please do so by 24 MAY we want to include everyone so please submit ASAP. Thanks

We have received some additional bats here and also the VIP bats in Boston. Thank you very much. We're 10-1 and begin play against the Golden League pro teams on Wednesday in Yuma.

Enjoy the pic of one of our biggest fans who invited the team to his B'day party. :)

Very Respectfully,

Terry Allvord
